Walk in Epping Forest Saturday 7th Jan

I was invited to go ice fishing by a couple of locals. This entailed standing out on the frozen Baltic, drilling holes and cutting out blocks of ice to lay nets. For transport we had a 1970s Snowmobile that couldn’t cope with deep snow… Despite the biting wind and -15c temperature it was a lot of fun.

Connaught Water near Chingford in London, a popular recreational area, the lake is named after the 1st Duke of Connaught, who served as the first Ranger of Epping Forest.
